The Management Board is made up of major donors interested in
taking an active role and responsibility in all aspects of the operation of the
organization. All members of the Board are volunteers. It currently consists of
the following people:
Lew Aronson, Ph.D.
Lew is the founder of the MRF and the current chairman of the
Management Board. He is the Chief Scientist at Finisar.
Paul Rosenberg
Paul is a Senior Product Development Engineer at Finisar.
Jan Lipson, Ph.D.
Jan is a Venture Partner with DynaFund Ventures
Dick Woodrow
Dick is Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Finisar.
John Sanguinetti, Ph.D.
John is the Chief Technical Officer of Forte Design Systems.
The Board has the following responsibilities:
Granting funds
The Management Board makes the final decision about funding
project proposals. While funding tends to be awarded for multi-year periods,
the board retains the right to redirect or withdraw funding if a research
group's activities substantially diverge from the goals of the Fund or the
quality of the work is found not to be as represented in the grant proposal.
The MRF will also reserve the right to audit the financial records of funding
recipients.
Management of funds
The MRF primarily relies on the resources of the Peninsula
Community Foundation to manage funds which have not been distributed. However,
the Board has the authority to direct the disposition of unallocated funds
within the guidelines of the Peninsula Community Foundation.
Appointment of the Medical Review Board
The Board appoints the members of the Medical Review Board.
